RATS
Giulio Golfieri
is a Venetian director and visual artist. He graduated in Screenwriting from the Carlo Mazzacurati Film School in Padua and currently works as a theatre coordinator for the regional organization Arteven.
He earned a degree in Visual Arts and Theatre at IUAV University of Venice in 2015, and later graduated with honors in Performing Arts and Multimedia Production (DAMS) at the University of Padua, with a video investigation on low-budget Italian cinema of the 2010s/2020s.
In 2021, his feature film project Lische won the 1st National Luciano Vincenzoni Award for Best Screenplay Subject. His subsequent projects were selected at festivals such as Fanta Festival, Roma Creative Contest, and NIUDOC.
His short films have been selected at numerous Italian and international festivals, including Fanta Festival, Amarcort Film Festival, Asolo Art Film Festival, Torino Underground Cinefest, ShorTS, and Rete Cinema in Laguna.
In 2022, he won the National Contemporary Art Award “Teogonia - Tracce di futuro,” promoted by Fondazione CDP and Fondazione Giorgio e Isa De Chirico, with the video installation Ombre, a work focused on homelessness in Milan. He was also a finalist at the Combat Prize International Contemporary Art Award with the photograph Milano s’è desta.
In 2024, he was a finalist for the Fondazione Federico Mighetto scholarship in Turin and completed a research fellowship at the University of Udine, producing the archival short film collection CinemaAcciaio.
In 2025, he won the SIAE “Corti Circuiti” grant, through which he directed the short film Il Milite Ignoto for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympics. In the same year, he won the National Award for Best Screenplay at the TOHorror Fantastic Film Fest for the short film Figli Unici, co-written with Lorenzo Trane.
In 2026, together with Matteo Quaittini, he won the Impronta Films Consultancy Award at NIUDOC (Pordenone Doc Fest) with the project Il Kaiju Furlan. Also he won Best Horror Shortmovie's award at ShorTS Film Festival with Cristina and he was nominated for Best Screenplay at the Tre Colori Screenplay Contest at Inventa un Film.
